Withhold on the retina (the mind’s eye)

Withhold on the retina (the mind’s eye)

[EN]

The studio of an artist is always a place where one feels that special movements were experienced and thus a vision took its development. In the studio is felt an intensity. I don’t know if it’s the large glass window that brings the outside space to the inside of a color or if the narrow balcony of the mezzanine, where, leaning to the wall, I’m touched by a shape inside of a line.

After the painter went out someone else came in and occupied this place with objects that met his gaze. This space confronts the gazes of the maker and the spectator. The maker rarely puts himself in the place of the observer because its gaze is a gaze that exists to transform what he sees; the viewer’gaze enables him to look at the possibility of an experience. This is the imbalance that stands between the walls of this house. If one gaze traces the fate of the movement of a hand, the gaze of the other advocates a pleasure, a reflective attitude. Wandering through the different rooms of the Museum-house Anastacio Goncalves causes me the urge to draw and to paint. Between spaces and objects this project finds a way that summons the discussion of a misplaced look. It is the discrepancy between what you see and what you do that I’ll try to scratch the powerful thoughts that are in front of me.
