Estudos e Procedimentos

Galeria Neupergama - Torres Novas

11/12/2021 - 06/01/2022

Studies and Procedures

Neupergama Gallery, Torres Novas

2021/12/11 to 2022/01/06

“And when I say the Poets, I understand, of course, in this designation, the whole formidable legion of dreamers, of useless men, from philosophers to the great builders of new formulas or new unrealizable companies”. *

While the course of work in the studio, some works appear that won’t be chosen to be shown in the next exhibitions, remaining on the walls because they have become enigmas to the painter’s eyes. They are sometimes repainted to attempt to discover some detail, unforeseen links, those “dis-shapes” or “dis-colours”, which alter and intensify them. In this doing, these, and others follow the same trend in the destiny that is fulfilled by “continuous work”. These are procedures that repeated every day in the end always finish differently.

In the studio, there is a “time of settling things down” in which sometimes imperceptible changes, occur on the surface of the works and, from that moment on, these new paintings require leaving the wall. That’s when the painter discovers his dreams. In the daily permanence of the images in the gaze, the works find their “place.”

“Studies and procedures”, an exhibition of works from several series, most of them recent, in a choice made during a time of calm and introspection. Sitting in a corner of the studio looking at its walls I discover what builds or develops me, creating between me and those objects, a poetics.
