Do que nem sequer há ideia

Continua-se a pintura nos momentos que a interrogam: a expectativa do que é desconhecido e deslumbra, o exercício do desligar o composto, o envolvimento do olhar, a extensão do campo da visão , o prolongamento do corpo na sua fragmentação. Questionar o espaço é o que continuamente a pintura faz. Não será no sentido de “the final frontier”, a ambição dos anos sessenta, a crença na possibilidade de ir mais além, mas a constatação de que um espaço está para lá do corpo e é um lugar; a sua possibilidade depende de como este se apresenta.

A afirmação do espaço é imperativo, pelo gesto que emana do corpo, pelo o objecto construído, que estabelece novas regras. Resta a possibilidade de uma “representação”,  um “simulacro”, ou um ambiente de vivências, a constatação do nada.

That of which there is not even an idea

“But non-being has always been referred to being, except in these ‘somethings’ that appear in Parmenides as an example of that ‘which there is no idea of’: what remains of living bodies, the remnants of matter, all that of which ‘there is not even an idea'” (Maria Zambrano).

Painting continues in the lapses that question it: the expectation of what is unknown and dazzling, the exercise of disconnecting composition, the engagement of the gaze, the extension of the field of vision, the prolongation of the body in its fragmentation. Questioning space is what painting continuously does. It is not in the sense of ‘the final frontier,’ the ambition of the sixties, the belief in the possibility of going further, but the realization that a space exists beyond the body and it is a place; its possibility depends on how it presents itself.

The affirmation of space is imperative through the gesture that emanates from the body, through the constructed object that establishes new rules.

The possibility of a ‘representation,’ a ‘simulacrum,’  or an environment of experiences remains, the awareness of nothingness.
